2 cups All-Purpose Flour (can substitute with whole wheat flour or gluten-free blend)
1 cup Sugar (can substitute with brown sugar or coconut sugar)
2 tsp Baking Powder (can substitute with baking soda in half the amount)
1/2 tsp Salt
2 large Eggs (can substitute with flaxseed meal or applesauce (1/4 cup per egg))
1 cup Milk (can substitute with almond milk or oat milk)
1/2 cup Butter (melted, can substitute with coconut oil or vegetable oil)
2 tbsp Chai Spices (mix of ground ginger, cinnamon, cardamom; can substitute with store-bought chai spice blend)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9-inch round cake pan by greasing it with butter or lining it with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and chai spices until well combined.
In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, eggs, and milk until smooth. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients.
Gently fold the wet and dry ingredients together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; small lumps are okay!
Pour the cake batter into your prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve it plain or with a sprinkle of powdered sugar for a beautiful presentation.
