2 cups All-purpose flour
½ cup Unsalted butter
¾ cup Granulated sugar
¾ cup Brown sugar
1 large Egg
3 cups Apples, peeled and chopped
1 tsp Cinnamon
½ tsp Salt
¾ cup Caramel sauce
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Prepare the Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden.
Make the Apple Filling: While the crust is baking, mix the peeled and chopped apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in another bowl. Let this sit for about 10 minutes to allow the apples to seep some juices.
Combine the Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the beaten egg. Add in the apple mixture and stir until well coated.
Assemble the Bars: Remove the crust from the oven and pour the apple mixture over the hot crust, spreading it evenly. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the apple mixture, then gently swirl it in with a knife.
Bake Again: Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until the apples are tender and the filling is bubbling and golden.
Add the Topping: After removing from the oven, allow to cool for about 10 minutes. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top and sprinkle with sea salt.
Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, slice into squares and serve. Enjoy!
