2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp spices (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves)
1 cup milk
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter or oil
Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and spices until well combined.
Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla extract.
Combine mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix just until combined. Be careful not to overmix!
Pour and bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serve: Slice and enjoy your cake plain, or add a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of icing for an extra special touch.
