Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 cups ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Transfer it to the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  4. Place the sliced tomatoes on top of the cheese layer. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Gently fold the edges of the puff pastry inward to create a rustic border. Brush the edges with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  7. Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.

Notes

Choose ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. Drain excess moisture from tomato slices to prevent a soggy crust. Experiment with different cheeses like goat cheese or feta for a tangy twist.
