- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish and put it in the oven to melt while you prepare the batter.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract, stirring until the batter is smooth.
- Once the butter is melted, remove the baking dish from the oven. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter. Do not stir. Spoon the sliced peaches over the batter, distributing them evenly. Sprinkle cinnamon on top if desired.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the peaches are bubbly. Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For the best flavor, use fresh, ripe peaches. If they’re not in season, canned peaches work just as well—just drain them before using. The butter creates a rich, golden crust. Ensure it’s evenly melted before adding the batter. This cobbler is delicious on its own or paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
