Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Gently fold in the rolled oats and raisins (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  7. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use room temperature butter for smoother dough. Do not overbake; remove cookies when edges are set but centers are still soft. Customize with chocolate chips, dried cranberries, or nuts. Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to enhance flavor and texture.
