Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey (93/7 blend)
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons finely grated onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, red onion

Method

Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, panko breadcrumbs, beaten egg, grated onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, oregano, black pepper, and sea salt. Mix gently with your hands until just combined – avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb – this helps them cook evenly and prevents puffing up.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F. Avoid pressing down on the burgers while cooking to retain their juices.
  4. Toast the burger buns lightly if desired. Serve the juicy turkey burgers on buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Don't overmix the meat mixture, keep ingredients cold, chill formed patties before cooking, use meat thermometer for perfect doneness (165°F), and let burgers rest 2-3 minutes before serving to redistribute juices.
